Installation and Uninstallation¶
Installation¶
Windows¶
The MeterVision Metrological Vision System is distributed as a Windows installer
(for example MeterVision-2.2-Setup.exe).
Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Linux (Astra Linux)¶
On Linux, MeterVision is distributed as a .deb package together with the
install_deb.sh auto-install script (intended for Astra Linux and other Debian-like systems).
Copy the
*.debfile andinstall_deb.shinto the same directory.Open a terminal in that directory and run:
chmod +x install_deb.sh
./install_deb.sh
# or explicitly:
./install_deb.sh ./metervision_*.deb
The script:
installs the package into a versioned directory, e.g.
/opt/MeterVision-2.2;creates a symlink
/opt/MeterVision→ the current version directory;on dependency errors, tries to fix them with
apt-get install -f;creates a desktop shortcut and an applications menu entry;
installs the program fonts (via
install_fonts.sh).
Fonts (including Comic Sans MS) can also be installed separately:
chmod +x install_fonts.sh
./install_fonts.sh
# for all users:
./install_fonts.sh --system
After installation you can start the program by double-clicking the shortcut or by running (replace with your version):
/opt/MeterVision-2.2/MeterVision
# or via the current-version symlink:
/opt/MeterVision/MeterVision
macOS¶
On macOS, the program is distributed as a disk image MeterVision.dmg
(for example MeterVision_2.2.dmg).
Installation:
Open
MeterVision.dmgwith a double-click — Finder showsMeterVision.appand a shortcut to the Applications folder.Drag
MeterVision.appinto Applications (or any convenient location).Eject the DMG volume if you no longer need it.
Launch the program from Applications by double-clicking
MeterVision.app.
No terminal installation is required.
If macOS blocks an unidentified developer app, open it from the context menu (“Open”) or allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
All Operating Systems¶
To make the Neural Network method available, you must also install the TesseractOCR engine and add the path to the TesseractOCR executable in the MeterVision program settings.
Uninstallation¶
Windows¶
The program can be uninstalled using the standard Windows system tools (“Add or Remove Programs” in the Control Panel) or by running the executable file uninst000.exe located in the program directory.
Linux¶
Remove the package with the system tools, for example:
sudo apt-get remove metervision
# or:
sudo dpkg -r metervision
Remove shortcuts if needed:
rm -f ~/Desktop/MeterVision.desktop
rm -f ~/.local/share/applications/MeterVision.desktop
macOS¶
Delete MeterVision.app from Applications (move it to Trash).
The MeterVision.dmg file can be deleted after installation.
The working directory ~/Documents/MeterVision is not removed automatically.
Program Directory¶
After the first launch, a so-called program directory (working directory) will be created, located by default at:
For Windows: %USERPROFILE%DocumentsMeterVision
For macOS and Linux: ~/Documents/MeterVision
You can change the working directory in the main menu: Settings → Working directory…. When a new directory is selected, the current program files are copied into it, and the program continues using only the new directory. This also allows several instances or versions of the program to run in parallel — each with its own working directory, without conflicts.
The path to the selected working directory is stored in settings/work_dir.txt inside the default directory
(Documents/MeterVision), not in the program installation directory. On startup the program first looks at the default
directory; if another accessible directory is specified there, that directory is used, otherwise the program stays in the default directory.
The directory structure is as follows:
MeterVision
├── input
│ ├── command.txt # file for external commands that can be sent to the program
│ ├── ip_cameras.txt # list of IP cameras used by the program
│ └── socket_config.txt # configuration file for socket connection

Folder descriptions:
output — stores recognition results (text files), screenshots (in the screenshots subfolder), and calibration graphs (in the figures subfolder).
input — contains the file for external commands, the list of IP cameras, and socket configuration settings, where you can specify the host and port of the client that will receive recognition data.
settings — user settings and program operation parameters; in the default directory it may also contain
work_dir.txt.license — files related to licensing.
log — program operation log files.
This directory will hereafter be referred to as the program directory.
License¶
After installation and the first program launch, a file named query.key will be generated in the license folder located inside the program directory. To obtain the license key, send this file to the rights holder — OOO “Dipol-Integratsiya” (Dipaul): website https://dipaul.ru/, phone 8 800 200 02 66, email info@dipaul.ru.
The binding End User License Agreement is available in Russian only in the LICENSE.md
file in the program distribution and in the Russian documentation
(Installation and setup → License).
One license is bound to one computer; the license term is defined by the key;
transfer to another computer is possible only by contacting the rights holder.
